This page explains how donations and guardianships work on Donate Pet, where the money goes, and the terms that apply to donors.
How to Register
You do not need an account to donate. Before your first donation we send a code to your email address and you enter it — no password, nothing to set up. After the donation you can create your account with one click, and from then on you sign in with that same address to see the animals you are a guardian of and to personalize your profile, including a cover photo.

Costs
Donate Pet does not hold donor funds. Stripe, one of the world's largest payment providers, processes payments directly to the organization's account. We use Stripe Connect to keep payment operations simple and costs as low as possible.

The exact Stripe fee is shown by Stripe for each payment. There are no setup or monthly fees for donors.
FAQ
Where does my donation go?
Stripe processes the payment directly to the organization’s connected Stripe account, where it pays for the care of the animal you chose. Donate Pet does not hold donor funds.
Can I give once, or become a guardian?
Both. A one-time gift helps an animal today; monthly support makes you its guardian, so you stay with it and see how it is doing.
Can I change or stop being a guardian?
Yes. You can manage or cancel monthly support for any animal you are a guardian of from your donor account, and it stops right away.
Why is there a platform fee?
The 4% Donate Pet fee supports the platform, animal pages and support. Stripe’s processing fee is separate and depends on the payment method.
Is my payment information stored by Donate Pet?
No. Card and bank payment information is handled by Stripe, our payment provider.
Terms
All donations are processed by Stripe, our payment partner. Donate Pet does not hold donor funds. Donations are paid directly to the partner's Stripe account. We charge a 4% platform fee. Applicable Stripe processing and account fees vary and are deducted from the partner's Stripe balance.
Monthly Guardian donations
Monthly Guardian donations can be cancelled at any time from your profile. Cancellation takes effect immediately and stops future billing. Payments already processed remain subject to the refund policy.
Refunds
Refund requests must be sent to the receiving partner. Partner self-service refunds are not currently available; approved cases are handled through Stripe with Donate Pet support.
Tax and receipts
Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the receiving organization and local law. Stripe receipts are proof of payment only and are not official donation receipts or tax certificates.
Partner choice
Donate Pet verifies partners before they can receive donations, but donors are responsible for deciding which partners they support. Donate Pet does not control or guarantee how donated funds are used by partners.
Privacy Policies
Data we collect
We collect only the minimum data required to operate the service, including your email address, optional profile information, donation history, and partner organization information where relevant. Payment information is processed by Stripe. Donate Pet never stores card details.
How we use data
We use your data to operate your account, support donations, review partners, and provide customer support. Our payment partner uses payment data to process payments and send payment confirmations. We do not sell your personal data or share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies for language preferences and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
